Explanations For Non-Xenites
Some of the jokes may not make sense to visitors that are not devoted-to-the-point-of-fanatacism
Xena followers. The following comments may, or may not, help.
- Poetess : Henbane was introduced in the
Altared States episode as a mood-altering substance.
Mavis was the name that Xena called Gabrielle during her temporary
madness in
The Furies. (The poem Gabrielle is reciting was written by Sappho).
- The Sneak : Xena would not let anyone mess
with her horse, Argo. Especially Joxer, whom she barely tolerates. Xena's
chakram is a sharpened ring that she uses as a throwing weapon. Gabrielle fights
with a quarter-staff (or is it a buck-and-a-quarter-staff?).
- Hostage : This cartoon is a strange mix of reality and fantasy.
The actress that plays Xena is Lucy Lawless.
- Strange Request : Lucy Lawless played Rizzo on Broadway in Grease.
The song that begins "Look at me, I'm Sandra Dee." was sung by Rizzo in Grease. A parody of that song
appeared in the Xena newsgroup some time ago. (If anyone knows
the author, or a link to the entire parody, please let me know).
- The Vision : While singing the U.S. National Anthem before a hockey
game, Lucy Lawless accidentally slipped out of the top of her Uncle Sam costume, revealing one of
her many skills.
- Something's Amiss : For a few episodes, Xena inhabited the body
of Callisto.
