| Lucy Lawless was outstanding as the host of
Saturday Night Live
last night (October 17, 1998). I haven't watched SNL for quite a while,
so I don't know if the show was merely great or unusually spectacular.
Not counting the regular spots (opening skit, weekend update, animated feature),
Lucy appeared in all of the sketches except one ... the National Anthem sketch!
Amazingly, there was no Xena:Warrior Princess sketch. The only mention of the
show was in the opening monologue.

The opening monologue had Lucy fielding questions from the "audience"
about the sexuality of her Xena character. The questioners included a nervous
geek, an oversexed male, and a couple of lesbians.

In a Judge Judy parody Lucy played a performing clown who was stiffed
by a mother who didn't think Lucy's bump-and-grind routine was appropriate at
her child's birthday party. A suprise ending had the REAL Judge Judy arrive
to render a verdict in favor of Lucy's character.

An MSNBC report about the Clinton Marriage
Crisis turns into a slumber
party, with the four female reporters becoming giggling school girls. Lucy
was the legal expert reporting via satellite.

Lucy's best performance was as singer
Stevie Nicks in a commercial for the "Stevie Nicks' Fajita Roundup"
resturaunt. Her dead-on song impersonations were great.

A parody of A&E's Biography focused
on rap singer PuffDaddy.
Lucy portrayed PuffDaddy's main squeeze.

In this sketch, Lucy was an art teacher who uses Terrance Maddox
(regular character?) as a substitute nude model.

In a cable access program "Goth Talk", Lucy played the proprietor of a new
mall store called Emporium of Evil.
