SINGLE ANTIGEN LIVE VACCINES

I just spoke to Merck & Co who manufacture the MMR Triple Antigen Vaccine.  I have been informed that they manufacture the single antigen vaccines as follows:

Measles AttenuVax
Rubella MeruVaxII
Mumps MumpsVax

They should be, according to the package insert, administered at least 1 month apart. The single antigen vaccines are available and manufactured but they are now on back order. The parent should request that the MD order them directly from Merck as they are best to handle and administer the
vaccine.

If the MD normally orders through a distributor/wholesaler they may be given the information that the vaccine is not available. That is not the complete story, it is available but it is on back order. Once they are ordered from the Order Management Group at Merck (800-637-2579) the back orders are filled as the vaccine becomes available.

If the MD has any problems or questions regarding the single antigen vaccine, they can call the customer service at Merck (800-672-6372). It is highly recommended that if you choose to vaccinate with the single antigen vaccine, you should have the MD do it. The vaccines are available, they are just on back order.
