IN REMEMBRANCE
– teacher STANLEY WILKINSON
Stanley Stuart Wilkinson, age 90, of Erie died Thursday, August
21, 2008 at the VAMC - Erie, following an extended illness. Mr. Wilkinson was
born on October 12, 1917 in Erie the son of the late Glenn L. and Helen
(Faulkner) Wilkinson. An Erie resident all his life, Stan, was a graduate of
Academy High School and Edinboro University where he earned his bachelors and
masters degrees in Education. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Infantry and
served during WW II earning the rank of 1st Lt. Upon returning from the war,
Mr. Wilkinson taught Chemistry, Biology and General Science at Strong Vincent
High School for many years. While at Strong Vincent he also coached the Cross County
team and became one of the most winning coaches in the city district. Stan was
a member of St. PaulÕs Community Church, a life member of the NRA, the American
Legion, VFW, and was a member of the PA State Retired Teachers Association. An
avid outdoorsman, Stan enjoyed hunting and fishing, riding his motorcycle and
spending time with his family. He is survived by two sons: Gregg S. (Jackie)
Wilkinson of Willow Park, Texas and Jeff A. (Kieren) Wilkinson of Erie. His
four grandchildren Julie C., Garret S., and Glen J. Wilkinson all of Austin,
Texas; and Scott G. Wilkinson of Lewisville, Texas; as well as his Great
Granddaughter, Anika Ray Wilkinson-Utter also of Austin, Texas. Predeceased by
his Wife, Erna (Adleff) Wilkinson who died in 1975, his two sisters, Leona
Cessna and infant Pauline Wilkinson and his infant Brother, Robert Wilkinson.
Funeral Services will be held at the convenience of the family. Private burial
in Erie Cemetery. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the Mason Funeral Home, 37
Clinton St., Westfield, NY 14787.
