September Social

One of the major meetings is the "September Social," held on the third Wednesday evening of the month. This annual event allows club members and their families to gather together for an evening of food, drink, and camaraderie.

Following the dinner talk is the annual John Gierhart Award. This award gives tribute to the most interesting and stimulating talk given by a SDCWRT member during the past year.

The evening festivities end with a silent auction. Items connected in various ways to the Civil War are donated. Bidding occurs throughout the evening on the displayed items. All funds raised go to Civil War battlefield preservation.

Civic Events

Members participate in a number of civic events throughout the year. In conjunction with re-enactors, SDCWRT supports the Memorial Day Celebration at Fort Rosecrans and the annual West Coast Civil War Round Table Conference held in one of the Pacific Coast Cities. Members also give lectures to schools and provide historical expertise to various areas of our community.
