y h i s t o r y I started getting into duct tape in the Fall of 1999. It all started when I was checking out my very first web page which, though horribly distasteful-looking, sported a link to The Duct Tape Guys. On this site, I followed a link to a site with directions for a duct tape back pack (no longer has them up, to my knowledge). I wasn't sure if I was cool enough for something so...obvious, so I decided to make a wallet. Unfortunately, I couldn't find any directions anywhere (the site didn't have directions for a wallet -- and the millions that exist now didn't; I looked everywhere), so I locked myself in my room for 3 days and 3 nights with no food and water and not even pausing to use the bathroom... and I came up with my own directions (which I proceeded to selflessly post on the Internet for the whole world to see). Ever since, I've been completely hooked. Since I started college (Fall 2003), I have really only used duct tape for normal purposes...like sticking things to things (I know, how chronically dull). The last creation I created was a full-sized messenger bag (complete with a cell phone holder [gotta keep up with the times, y'know?]). Duct tape will always have a special place in my heart, even if I don't have time to experiment with it. And to this day, I'm proud to say that this site exists as an inspiration to many a fellow duct tape friend. m y g a l l e r y Every couple of months I cook up a new duct tape masterpiece. Aside from the items with pictures, I've made a mask, coin pouches, hand cuffs, a bikini top (there is a picture to that... but you can't see it ;), a cat key chain, mini rolls of duct tape, Christmas tree ornaments, a fantastic elephant (you're welcome, Superman), rings, necklaces, and bracelets. (items listed in chronological order) Wallet Mini backpack Sandals Bible cover (the zipper? yeah, I frickin' sewed that on by hand...it is extraordinarily difficult to sew through 4-6 layers of duct tape) Gloves Notebooks (covered, really, and added pockets and whatnot) Duct tape straps (to hold my flow pad to my file box) Clifford The Dragon Rose Purse (interior) Studded belt Guitar strap d i r e c t i o n s (for those with too much time on their hands) Tri-fold Wallet Rose Sandals m a i l i n g l i s t I promise... one day... eventually... I will get around to posting some new directions. Tell me what you want to see, and this pressures me into posting directions in the more immediate future. Sorry I've been slacking! If you'd like to be notified when I post new directions, please email me at krynge@san.rr.com and I'll add you to the list. I promise I won't give out your email address to mean and nasty spam people (unless, of course, they offer me ridiculous sums of money in which case...). Also, feel free to email me with any technical questions about what to do if you're in the middle of a project and get stuck. I'll be more than happy to help out. |
