Description:

There are only a few recognized 1 on 1 maps currently in TF. I decided to make one that would perhaps address a few issues I felt were lacking in most 1 on 1 type maps. It is safe to say that 2fort5 is the most popular map in TF. It is also a good assumption that the most popular 1 on 1 map is sq1. If you look at these two maps however, you will notice that they require different styles of play. There is a reason for this.

Sq1 is a wide open map. 2fort5 for the most part, is not. During clan matches I've noticed that the most significant part of any players journey takes place inside the bases. This is were the bulk of the defense clashes with the offense. The insides of the 2fort5 base are very cramped and narrow. Because of this, there are more factors to consider when engaging an enemy inside of the base as opposed to those present when outside.

With this map I intended to address these issues. I hope that by utilizing this map properly, soldiers as well as other classes will learn how to play effectively in close combat.

Features:

- The map is composed of small interlocking rooms, each having at least two ways out or in.

- The entire map is filled with shin-deep water. There are small ramps along the outer perimeter of the map. The combination of these two elements allows the player to track the others movements by listening to the splashing.

- There is a button in the center of the map that opens a teleport for quick restocking after you have slain your enemy.

- The restocks tell your opponent when you are restocking so that you will not be able to get extra health in the midst of a battle without them knowing.

- The architecture of the map validates the use of gren2s. They can be used to trap your enemy, but random spamming will prove to be ineffective.

- The restocks are marked GOLD and JADE so you know which one is yours.

This map should hone several aspects of your gameplay:

- Using corners defensively and offensively.

- Using walls to juggle your enemy.

- Using the sounds you hear to track down your enemy.

- Maximizing the effect of splash damage on your enemy and minimizing the effect on yourself when in small areas.

- Picking the right weapon for a particular instance. sometimes big guns and small rooms don't mix.

- Mastering ricocheted grenade trajectories.

- Learning not to blow yourself up by rocketing a nearby wall.

Final Notes:

- This map is also great for 2 on 2's.

- This map is also great for classes other than soldier. Believe it or not, pyros do quite well on this map. Snipers and Hwguys are iffy.

- I have a great deathmatch version of this map that I playtested with 4 omicron bots. It rocked.

- This map is actually a subsection of a bigger CTF-style map I am constructing. I liked this part of the map so much that I decided to turn it into a 1 on 1 map. With my schedule looking the way it is you probably won't see the CTF-style map until TFC comes out (maybe even as far as TF2). Think of this map as a sneak preview.

- If anyone has any other good ideas for 1 on 1 maps feel free to contact me. If I like the idea I will build the map and give you credit.
