F.O.T.N. (Fractal of the Night) 2 May 1998 (Dr. E Volunteers)

"No, absolutely not! You can not go in and see Dr. J. Not now." The FractoMedical Doctor was unyielding.

But Dr. E just had to see her husband. If he was not iterating, that is, making a good approximation of a fractal, then he could be in real trouble. At least that was what she thought she understood from the Internet.  Before computers, she had read, it was all the rage for scientists to use exact solutions of distorted approximations of their problems. It was an age of slide rules and thinking, chalk boards and hand drawings. "Assume a spherical cow" someone had once said. Now how did they milk a spherical cow?

The doctor had said that Dr. J is not all here, but what of him there is, is amazingly precise. The more she thought about it, the more alarmed she became. She just had to see Dr. J and verify if this were true. But hadn't Dr. J said, "I iterate, therefore I am!" If Dr. J were reverting to some analytical value system, he could lose his chaotic...

No time to discuss this, she is acting quickly. In tonight's picture, we see her making an end run around the doctors. She has become a Candy striper, a hospital volunteer.

Hmmmm.... That dress is rather a nice fit, wouldn't you say? Has Dr. E been trying on some of those analytical solutions?

The warning she had read on the Internet does also apply to her, after all...... "If Dr. J were to attempt to draw himself exactly in all detail, would he cease to exist?"

Will Dr. E get past the medical staff to see Dr. J?

Have you been using any analytical solutions as short cuts?

The parameter and formula files for Fractint are included below. Copy them into a quickie.par file for quick loading into Fractint. For longer term use, copy the frm: block into a FotN.frm file. But this time leave off the 'frm:' part.  Then copy the rest (the par parts) into your FotN.par file.
