Another original title? J
I started sailing with friends when I was growing up. During college, I kind of dropped out. After college, I met some new sailing friends and have been back into sailing ever since.
In Spring of 2000, things finally came together and I bought my first boat, Yorkshire Rose. She's a 1986 Catalina Yachts 34' sloop. The prior owners fixed her up really nice, and I'm doing my part to continue that legacy (see my Projects page). Plus, there's nothing quite like coming in the harbor at sunset in December.
I mainly enjoy cruising. I've tried my hand at racing. It's challenging,
educational, and downright frustrating! Most of my experience is as a day sailor,
but done lots of extended trips.
The extended trips tend to be work but also lots of fun. Here's some of
the better extended "Ports o' Call".
|
Tahiti on my friend John's boat, Mary Ann. |
|
Catalina Island for Labor Day, 2000 weekend on Yorkshire Rose. Okay, it's not exotic, nor extended, but it was on my own boat! |
|
Greek Islands with John again for 3 weeks. |
| Buccaneer Days, 2001 at The Isthmus on Catalina Island. |
|
Chartering in the British Virgin Islands. |
I mentioned Tahiti on John's boat right above. If you'd like to read of his adventures, John's Journey is my collection of his e-mail letters.
Another sailing friend is South Pacific bound shortly. Here's a link to Gerry's web page.
