This is the line of Kniager/Knaiger Russian Jewish family members that originated about 200 miles SE of Kiev, Ukraine, Russia in the early 1900's and settled into New Hamshire. The city in Russia was called Polivanov and was apparently destroyed during WWI. We are all connected together from a David Kniager, born around 1850 in Russia. The name Kniager was the original spelling of the surname, but in the early 1900's Aleck Kniager changed the vowels in his name so he could be first in the phone book. At that time, all of the Kniager's owned meat shops. The Kniager's live on the east coast, and the Knaiger's live on the west coast. One day we will all meet.
Where Are We Now?
