My first Fiesta was a red '79 Ghia that I bought as a winter "beater" for
$100.00. I drove that car with no antifreeze (the previous owner neglected
to tell me the radiator had a hole in it!). It would just start to go slower,
and slower... Pouring some water in it got it going again! It never failed
to start and I spent almost no money on it. I once got an entire console
television in the back (just move the front seats forward a notch!) Because
it was rusty I sold it for $76.00(The agreed price was $75.00 but he had
only $80.00 in twenties and I only four singles!!) That car made such an
impression on me that I kept my eyes open for another. I bought two a few
years later for parts (dark blue and white) but I just couldn't find a nice
one. Then I saw it, a pretty powder blue one in a parking lot. I put a note
on it asking if it was for sale and immediately got a phone call from a
young woman who told me my note was "an answered prayer from God" because
she had been trying to trade it in to local dealers but none of them would
give her $50.00 for it. I whipped out $500.00 and drove away in my new
rustfree '80 Fiesta.
Since then I've equipped it with many suspension/handling and performance
parts as well as a nice stereo. I autocross it regularly in the summertime.
It's my favorite car, by far! I'll never be without a Fiesta again!
