Bar-tailed Godwit
Limosa
lapponica
Ocean Beach, San Diego County, California
4 September 2000
This bird was found by John Martin on Monday, 4 September 2000. These pictures were taken by David Blue with a Kodak DC290 digital camera (with a 115mm lens). For two of the pictures, the camera was hand held to a Kowa Prominar tsn-4 spotting scope with a 20-60x eyepiece (at the 20 power setting).
There is some controversy about the sex of this bird. Is it a faded male, or a female? What do you think?
