Education

Background

Hi !!!!!    My name is Chuck Podhorsky and this was my class homepage. I currently work for the San Diego State University - City Heights Educational Collaborative as a coordinator of Mathematics and New Teacher Induction. I earned my bachelors degree from  the University of California, San Diego (U.C.S.D.) .  I am now a new homeowner in the community of Pacific Beach , and very much enjoy the sun and relaxation that  San  Diego has to offer. I grew up in San Diego and have traveled throughout the United States, Europe and Asia. As a teacher, I  began my love for traveling to the many beautiful countries that are so rich in history and culture . I look forward to the many wonderful experiences and journeys that life has to offer. My wife and I have recently had the pleasure of welcoming a new daughter into our lives. This has been such a special time for us and we look forward to watch her grow into a beautiful young lady. I am also currently working on my Doctoral degree from the University of California, Los Angeles (U.C.L.A) in Educational Leadership. My dissertation research focuses on Lesson Study as a method for facilitating instructional change.

I am so excited about the wonderful new opportunities that are available for students today. I enjoy working with progressively minded people, who desire to achieve greatness in their fields. Education has so many rewards to offer at all levels. Students are empowered to achieve their desires. Parents are driven to help foster a life that will change society for ever. Teachers are entrusted the power to train and support  these new young visions. Together, we can shape the future.

What does Mr. P do when he is not in class ???

I enjoy anything that involves the outdoors. I grew up with an avid love for camping and  many naturalist activities. I have hiked extensively throughout California, with many great nights on both the Pacific Crest Trail and the John Muir Trail.  I  also enjoy a wide range of activities from bike riding, S.C.U.B.A diving,  horseback riding, surfing and rollerblading. I am a recent admirer of classic texts. I am looking for first edition texts from authors such as: Twain, Hemingway and Fitzgerald.

Future plans include continued focused work on  my  Ph.D.   I welcome many great years in San Diego, but  I am also looking forward to several years exploring the world with my wife and children.
