R&D Hardware Project manager.

  • Initial Qualcomm chipset platform development
  • R&D electronics hardware project manager for 2 CDMA tri-mode products.

Senior RF Design Engineer

  • Responsible for complete receiver system designs for CDMA IS-98B/E standards in the 1900 and 800 MHz band, including RF ASIC specifications, circuit designs, implementation and managing integration with baseband, antenna and production testing.
  • Designed high linearity / low current discrete CDMA TX upconverter, pre-driver and system for 1900 MHz single band product.
  • Designed high linearity discrete LNAs, small signal RF amplifiers for 900 MHz and 1.9 GHz, IF amplifiers as well as complete receiver front end solutions.
  • Synthesizer and oscillator design and implementation up to 2.2 GHz.
  • Good knowledge of CDMA mobile phone technology and standards, J-STD-018, IS-98A/B/C/D/E, IS-19C, IS-690. Familiar with WCDMA (UMTS / 3GPP) and GSM/GPRS/EDGE technology.
  • RF team lead for 6 handset products, managing day-to-day activities including RF design, antenna and mechanics integration, performance testing, FCC type approval, automated handset testing in house and in target factories, reliability testing, customer requirements and field test issues, component selection and reliability, system analysis, statistical analysis of factory production data as well as internal Cpk testing, prototype planning and interfacing over a variety of cross functional disciplines.

·         Quad band EDGE / dual band WCDMA handset RF development, responsible for product performance improvements and significant cost reduction.

·         Managed RF production calibration algorithms for handsets, with focus on test time and improved accuracy of the RF parameters.

  • Familiar with different RF test equipment: spectrum analyzers, Vector Signal Analyzers, Network analyzers, frequency counters, phase noise testers, Noise Figure meters, Agilent 8924C/8285/8960/Anritsu CDMA Mobile Station Testers, Modulation domain analyzers, ATN differential network analyzer module.

RF Design Engineer. Nera Telecommunications, Bergen, Norway. Summer 1996.

  • Senior Project: Phase-hit detector for microwave oscillators, Nera Telecommunications (microwave division). Duration: 1 academic year. Design of a 100 MHz PLL, low noise amplifiers, digital circuitry and circuit board layout. Extensive teamwork.

Design Engineer. Nera Telecommunications, Bergen, Norway. Summer 1994.

  • Senior Project: Automatic tuning of microwave waveguide filters. Duration: 5 months. Design of a step motor control unit with a RS232 serial interface. Design of digital/analog circuits, circuit board layout, and also assembly (8031 micro controller) and C-programming. Teamwork.
