Web Facts
|
There are only three reasons for a Web site
- Money
- The dispensing of information or opinions
- EGO
|
Identify your target audience
- Who are you trying to lure to your site? If you don't know, neither will anybody else
|
Audience for business sites:
- Current customers:
- Must provide critical information about your product or service, and it needs to be easily accessible
- Potential Customers:
- Separate them into subgroups by level of interest or how they got to your site
- Did they arrive from a search engine?
- Did they come from your mailings?
- Or from written brochures? You could have separate entrance pages for each of these arrivals
- Investors and your sales force
- Examine the pages asking yourself if the information will help them sell the product
Reexamine and retool if necessary!
|
There are three things your Web site should convey:
- The site's purpose:
- What kind of content is contained in the site
- How to find that content
- Display important information prominently
- Ask yourself would anybody want to come back to the site a second time?
Update regularly, and make your information easy to find!
Make sure you include your Web site address/URL on all your company literature!
